Two and a Half Years in Sicily | Our Italian life and house (#46)

Published: February 09, 2026

🇮🇹 Two and a Half Years Ago, We Changed Everything.
At an age when many people are thinking about slowing down, we did the opposite.
We packed up our lives, left Sweden behind, and moved to Sicily with no real plan, no renovation experience, and absolutely no idea what we were getting ourselves into.
What started as a dream quickly became an adventure.
An adventure filled with sunshine, sea views, unexpected challenges, incredible friendships, endless cups of espresso, and more renovation dust than we ever thought possible. ☕🏡🌊
This film is our love letter to Sicily.
To the island that captured our hearts.
To the mornings filled with church bells and fresh pastries.
To the warm Mediterranean evenings where time seems to stand still.
To the colorful markets, the ancient architecture, the simple but unforgettable food, and the traditions that still thrive here today.
And of course...
To the olive harvest.
The season when families, friends, and generations come together to transform months of hard work into liquid gold. 🫒✨
When we first arrived, we bought the very first house we viewed.
Yes... really.
Most people spend months searching.
We spent about an hour. 😅
We fell in love instantly with its painted ceilings, original floors, hidden character, and endless potential.
Since then, we've spent two and a half years restoring, renovating, learning, making mistakes, and slowly transforming an old Sicilian house into a home.
A place where friends gather.
A place where family visits.
A place where dreams continue to grow.
This is not a story about perfection.
It's a story about taking a chance.
About finding beauty in imperfection.
About choosing experiences over comfort.
And about discovering that sometimes the best things in life begin with a single leap of faith.
If you've ever dreamed of starting over, moving abroad, restoring an old house, living slower, eating better, and embracing life with all five senses fully awake...
Welcome to Sicily.
💛 Tell us in the comments:
